DKU Terms and Conditions Related to the Duke Application Checkbox
Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is a joint-venture university between Duke University (Duke) and Wuhan University located in Kunshan, China. Duke provides ongoing support for its undergraduate curriculum and will confer a Duke University degree to all students who graduate from the DKU undergraduate program.
International applicants are offered the opportunity to check a box within the Duke Common Application indicating their decision to share their application with DKU, based on which DKU will consider that you have applied to DKU.
By answering Yes in the Duke Common App to share their application with DKU, Duke applicants understand and agree to the following:
Your decision to share your application with DKU will not impact the evaluation of your application for admission to Duke.
Admission to one university is not transferrable to the other.
If you apply Early Decision to Duke, your Duke application will only be shared with DKU if your application to Duke is deferred or denied in December.
Your choice to submit test scores is transferable to DKU. If you choose to have your test scores considered, you will need to send them to DKU directly.
Your choice to apply for financial aid is transferable to DKU. If you choose Yes, you will need to submit a separate CSS Profile application to DKU.
Your communication preferences are transferable to DKU.
Duke applicants to DKU are asked to complete an optional supplemental essay. While not required, applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the essay in order to provide context to their choice to apply to DKU.
Duke and DKU, while connected to each other in many ways, are legally independent universities. Each will independently consider your application separately and decide whether to offer you admission. Admission to one university is not transferable to the other university. If you are admitted to both universities, you may choose either.
As a university located in China, DKU is subject to Chinese laws, including Chinese data privacy and security laws, which may differ from privacy and security laws in the US and other countries. Refer to any applicable DKU privacy policies for details.
While Duke agrees to share your application and related materials with DKU, as a means for you to apply to DKU, all communications and other activity related to your application will be a matter that is solely between you and DKU.
